Chicago Health-food MUSTS

Chicago is known for its top restaurants and lavish cocktail bars and rooftops, but little would you guess that there are some great health-foodie spots. My favorite spots are hidden and spread throughout the city, serving wonders from raw pizza to elixir shots of turmeric and ginger.  So if you ever find yourself taking a selfie at the bean or taking a stroll down Lincoln Park be sure to check these spots out.

1.Chicago Raw: If you’re in the mood for lunch/dinner, a smoothie or something to snack on this is the place to go. EVERYTHING is absolutely delicious and you can never go wrong with anything you pick. All raw & vegan foods.To-go prepared spreads, salads, breads, meals, desserts + juice & smoothie bar. Located in the French Market, Whole Foods Streeterville, and in the Gold Coast on Huron street.

Must try: Coconut water, pizza(pictured above), hazelnut pesto spread and the apple cinnamon parfait

    2.   Chicago Health Foods: This is a hidden mini-whole foods in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. You can find everything you need from beauty products to dinner ingredients, but all the way in the back is an awesome small cafe serving sandwiches, sides, desserts, shakes and juices.

Must Try: Green goddess wrap, veg out super shake, the red juice ( my favorite place for this simple juice- literally ON POINT).

    3. Left Coast: This chique Lincoln Park cafe is the perfect spot for a weekend brunch or order to go and enjoy at home. It has awesome salads, grain bowls, wraps and of course smoothies & juices. It has an amazing Acai bowl, which is blended with banana, almond butter and maca powder topped with fresh berries, house-made granola, hemp seeds, coconut flakes, & goji berries !!!

Must Try: Acai Bowl (seriously), laguna Avocado toast, the chronic wrap, le midi salad, rocket man juice

    4. Karyn’s Raw: Super fun bistro, juice bar, and restaurant in Lincoln Park connected together (there’s also a spa) that all serve vegan, raw, fresh foods all day long. On the weekends they have an all you can’t eat brunch buffet which is SO delicious and it gives you a taste for different things that they serve.

Must Try: Kale Salad, Glass Noodles Frozen Yogurt (caution dairy free people you will become addicted-no joke)

    5. Owen & Alchemy: This place is revolutionary. It takes juicing and health foods to a new sophistication I can’t even describe. Just look at the website and you will already be hooked. If you find yourself in Lincoln Park or in Logan Square, you absolutely MUST make a stop.

Must Try: Rw Water- reverse osmosis filtered, alkaline water, rosewater, garcinia indica ( YEAH RIGHT?), citrus 25: lemon, cucumber, rosemary, raw agave, activated charcoal (your mouth won’t be black I promise)
